Getty Narrows UK Lawsuit Against Stability AI - Getty Images has dropped key copyright claims against Stability AI related to using millions of copyrighted images for AI model training. The UK lawsuit will continue with secondary and trademark infringement claims due to challenges in proving jurisdictional relevance and insufficient evidence. Stability AI welcomed this decision and believes the remaining allegations will also fail.
While the UK lawsuit unfolds, a similar U.S. lawsuit remains active, seeking $1.7 billion in damages for alleged infringements. Stability AI also faces separate legal challenges from visual artists over copyright concerns, alongside Midjourney and DeviantArt.
