Generalist AI has released GEN-1, a robotics foundation model boasting over 99% success rates on multiple tasks and nearly three times the speed of competing models. The launch comes just five months after its predecessor, GEN-0. GEN-1 focuses on three key improvements: reliability, speed, and improvisation. It handles complex multi-step tasks like folding laundry and box assembly, and can adapt to unexpected disruptions such as slipping objects or failed latches. Some complex tasks still fall short of the 99% benchmark at practical speeds.
