Folk Musician Hit by AI Fakes and Copyright Trolls

Folk artist Murphy Campbell discovered AI-generated versions of her songs uploaded to Spotify under her name without her consent. Despite efforts to remove them, at least one fake track remains on the platform under a duplicate artist profile. The trouble escalated when a mysterious user uploaded videos through distributor Vydia to claim copyright over Campbell's YouTube content, targeting public domain songs like "In the Pines," which dates to the 1870s. Vydia has since released the claims and banned the uploader, but the incident highlights serious flaws in YouTube's Content ID system and streaming platform safeguards.
