Fidji Simo Named OpenAI CEO of Applications - OpenAI has named Fidji Simo, former CEO of Instacart and head of Facebook, as its new CEO of Applications. She will concentrate on financial and product development areas, roles previously handled by Sam Altman. Simo, credited with enhancing Instacart's profitability and introducing new products, brings consumer market expertise that may signal OpenAI's shift towards consumer-focused offerings. She will join OpenAI after her transition from Instacart.
Other significant OpenAI leaders, such as Kevin Weil and Sarah Friar, will report to Simo as the organization aims to expand its operations amid a financial turnaround.
