Featherless.ai Raises $20M for Open-Source AI Hosting

Featherless.ai, a serverless inference platform hosting over 30,000 open-source AI models, has raised $20 million in a Series A round co-led by AMD Ventures and Airbus Ventures. The company offers enterprises a single API to access language, vision and audio models without dedicated infrastructure commitments. Founded in 2024 by creators of the open-source RWKV model architecture, Featherless.ai plans to expand global infrastructure, launch a specialized open model marketplace and deepen hardware integrations. The raise follows a $5 million seed round and comes as enterprises increasingly weigh open-source AI against proprietary alternatives from OpenAI and Anthropic.
