Facebook is asking to use Meta AI on photos in your camera roll you haven’t yet shared

June 27, 2025: Facebook Requests AI Access to Private Photos - Facebook is asking users for permission to access photos in their camera roll that haven't been shared on the platform. This feature uses cloud processing to suggest AI-edited versions of photos, such as collages and restylings, requiring users to agree to Meta's AI Terms, which allows their media to be analyzed for creative content.

Although Facebook asserts the data won't be used for ad targeting, privacy and data usage concerns remain. The feature can be disabled in Settings, yet its introduction has sparked questions regarding data privacy and consent.
