Depression-Detecting AI Startup Shuts Down After FDA Struggles
Kintsugi, a California startup, spent seven years developing AI that detects signs of depression and anxiety through speech analysis. The company is now shutting down after failing to secure FDA clearance in time.
Despite the closure, Kintsugi plans to release most of its technology as open-source. Some elements may find new applications outside healthcare, including detecting deepfake audio.
