DeepMind's David Silver raises $1.1B for human-free AI
Ineffable Intelligence, a British AI startup founded months ago by former DeepMind researcher David Silver, has raised $1.1 billion at a $5.1 billion valuation. The round was led by Sequoia Capital and Lightspeed, with backing from Google, Nvidia, and the UK's sovereign AI fund.
The company aims to build a superlearner AI that acquires knowledge purely through reinforcement learning, without human-generated data — echoing Silver's work on AlphaZero at DeepMind. Ineffable boldly compares its potential breakthrough to Darwin's theory of evolution, claiming its work will explain and build all intelligence.
