Cohere and Aleph Alpha Merge Transatlantically
Canadian AI firm Cohere and Germany's Aleph Alpha have agreed to merge, aiming to create what they call a transatlantic AI powerhouse. Financial terms were not disclosed, though German retailer Schwarz Group will invest 500 million euros in an upcoming financing round.
The combined company plans to offer an independent AI option for regulated sectors, including governments. CEO Aidan Gomez cited shared Canadian and German values around privacy, security, and responsible innovation as a foundation for becoming a globally trusted AI partner.
