ChatGPT Randomly Inserting Arabic Into English Responses
English-speaking ChatGPT users are reporting a bizarre glitch where the AI chatbot randomly inserts Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Spanish, and other foreign languages into its responses. One user shared a recipe list with an ingredient written in Arabic, while another found the language appearing mid-prompt during a logo design session.
Experts say the issue stems from how AI models use tokens to process language. Foreign words that require fewer tokens are more computationally efficient, causing the model to occasionally substitute them. The phenomenon echoes a 2024 incident where ChatGPT began generating Spanglish gibberish and repetitive phrases.
