Binghamton Launches $900K AI Public Good Initiative
Binghamton University is partnering with six SUNY institutions on a three-year, $900,000 initiative to advance AI education for the public good. The program includes a free online AI Prep for Careers microcredential covering foundational AI principles, workforce applications, and ethical considerations.
The initiative also features a fully funded 10-week student research program offering a $6,000 stipend plus housing and travel. Officials emphasize preparing students for AI's impact across all career fields, not just tech roles, with plans to pursue additional funding from sources including the National Science Foundation.
