Bengio Launches Nonprofit AI Safety Lab - AI pioneer Yoshua Bengio has launched LawZero, a nonprofit AI lab dedicated to creating safety-optimized AI systems. Supported by $30 million in donations from notable backers, LawZero aims to address the risks of current AI models by developing new neural network methodologies.
The lab's flagship project, Scientist AI, will provide probabilistic responses rather than definitive answers to prevent misinformation and harmful actions. With a team of 15 staffers, LawZero seeks additional funding to enhance its research and development efforts.
