Baidu Unveils New Ernie AI Models - Baidu has unveiled Ernie 4.5, a sophisticated AI model with improved multimodal capabilities and high emotional intelligence, alongside Ernie X1, a reasoning model that competes with DeepSeek R1 on performance while being cost-effective. Both models handle text, video, images, and audio, offering comprehensive processing abilities.
Despite pioneering a Chinese alternative to ChatGPT, Baidu has struggled with broad adoption. Ernie X1 provides comparable features to competitors at a reduced cost. Baidu plans to launch a more advanced version, Ernie 5, later this year.
