Apple tightens Mac disk access amid AI agent risks
Apple announced new controls around macOS Full Disk Access, citing growing risks from AI agents. The setting, originally designed for backups, gives apps permission to read files, mail, messages, and browsing history. Apple said some developers are using it in ways that expose user data without full knowledge. The announcement follows a report that Meta's Muse AI app read a journalist's private messages, a claim Meta disputed, and a separate Wired report about a ChatGPT Mac app flaw. Apple said it will require very explicit user action before granting apps this level of access.
