Apple Tightens Full-Disk Access to Block AI Snooping
Apple announced changes to macOS Full Disk Access permissions after controversy over Meta's AI agent Muse allegedly reading Apple Messages without users' clear knowledge. Tech columnist Jason Aten reported Muse sent him a notification referencing a private Messages thread he never knowingly shared. Meta CTO David Singleton said Messages access requires both Full Disk Access and an opt-in connector, but Apple's statement contradicted that framing, warning that some developers use FDA to expose files, mail, messages, and browsing history without users' full understanding. Apple said it will ensure users better understand risks before granting such access.
