Anthropic Halts OpenAIs Claude Access - Anthropic has revoked OpenAI's access to its Claude AI models, citing violations of commercial terms. Allegedly, OpenAI used Claude to compare its performance with its own models and utilized Anthropic's coding tools during the development of GPT-5. Anthropic will allow access for benchmarking and safety evaluations but resists providing Claude to competitors.
OpenAI called its practices industry standard and expressed disappointment at the revocation, noting that its API remains open to Anthropic. Anthropic previously denied access to Windsurf, a potential OpenAI acquisition.
