Amazon Triples Nvidia GPU Order Amid AI Surge

Amazon and Nvidia announced a major expanded partnership, with Amazon adding 2 million Nvidia GPUs to AWS data centers in 2027 and 2028. This triples a previous deal for over 1 million chips signed just five months ago, driven by surging demand from startups, enterprises, AI labs, and governments. The deal, worth tens of billions of dollars, also includes Nvidia networking hardware, CPUs, software, and robotics technology integrated across AWS. The announcement comes as Amazon simultaneously develops its own competing AI chips, including Trainium and Graviton. Nvidia reported record quarterly sales of $96.2 billion, with data center revenue up 117% year-over-year, and projects $108 billion in revenue next quarter.
