Amazon Pumps $5B More Into Anthropic

Amazon has made a fresh $5 billion investment in Anthropic, bringing its total stake to $13 billion. In return, Anthropic has committed to spending over $100 billion on AWS over the next decade, securing up to 5 GW of computing capacity for its Claude AI models. The deal centers on Amazon's custom Trainium chips, covering generations 2 through 4, plus options on future chips. The agreement mirrors a similar cloud-plus-cash structure Amazon used in its recent OpenAI investment. Separately, VCs are reportedly eyeing Anthropic at an $800 billion-plus valuation.
