YouTube Music adds labels for AI-generated tracks
YouTube Music is rolling out a labeling system to identify AI-generated songs, with labels appearing on the player page for both YouTube Music and the main YouTube app. Tracks will be designated as Fully Gen AI, Partly Gen AI, or No Gen AI. Unlike Deezer, which blocks AI tracks from recommendations and withholds royalties from fraudulent streams, or TIDAL, which lets users disable AI content, YouTube focuses on disclosure rather than restrictions. AI involvement alone does not affect a track's monetization eligibility. Apple Music and Spotify are also developing their own AI labeling approaches.
