Websites blocking AI agents frustrate early adopters
Personal AI agents like Meta's Muse are hitting walls as websites block them from completing tasks such as purchases and bookings. Amazon intentionally blocked Muse from its site, while Walmart's blocks appear unintentional, stemming from human-verification checks that agents cannot pass. Airlines including Delta and United are also restricting agent access, citing security concerns. Users have reported blocks from eBay, Zillow, Yelp, Adidas, and Pizza Hut, with some eBay accounts suspended. To address this, Meta, Walmart, Stripe, and others are developing an open standard for agent-to-business communication to distinguish legitimate agents from malicious bots.
