Voice AI Still Lacks Its ChatGPT Breakthrough Moment

Despite billions in investment and a wave of new model releases, enterprise voice AI has not yet had its defining breakthrough moment, according to executives at PolyAI and Otter. PolyAI CTO Shawn Wen says the next challenge is making reasoning fast enough for natural conversation, while Otter CMO Alex Gay highlights that poor transcription accuracy undermines all downstream actions and erodes user trust. Both executives also stressed the importance of transparency, noting that users must be clearly informed when they are being recorded or speaking with an AI.
