Teradata Upgrades Tera AI With Governed Agent Tools

Teradata is expanding its Tera AI assistant with three new components: a Context Engine, an execution system called Tera Harness, and reusable Agent Skills. The update targets business analysts, data engineers and database administrators, letting them manage data pipelines and infrastructure through natural language while staying within organizational access policies. Teradata claims Tera outperforms rivals on cost and speed, reporting 73% fewer tokens than Claude Code and 53% lower cost per task than Snowflake Cortex Code in its own benchmark testing. The new capabilities are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2026.
