SkyPilot Raises $20M to Unify AI Infrastructure
SkyPilot Inc. launched with $20 million in seed funding led by Lux Capital, with backing from Databricks CEO Ali Ghodsi, Google Chief Scientist Jeff Dean, and other angel investors. The San Francisco startup commercializes an open-source tool developed at UC Berkeley, with Databricks co-founder Ion Stoica among its founders. The software lets enterprises manage fragmented AI infrastructure across clouds, on-premises, and hybrid environments through a single interface. Its paid SkyPilot Platform automates bin packing, provisions resources on demand, launches GPU clusters of 5,000 chips in under a minute, and activates secure inference sandboxes in under a second. Funding will support product development and hiring.
SkyPilot bets that hybrid AI infrastructure chaos is permanent enough to build a business on.
