Satlyt raises $8M to run AI on satellites
Satlyt, co-founded by former Google and SpaceX product manager Rama Afullo, has raised an $8 million seed round to build software that runs AI models on satellites. Rather than building its own spacecraft, Satlyt develops platform software that works across multiple companies' satellites, comparing its approach to VMware and Snowflake. The company has already deployed Google DeepMind's Gemma model on a Momentus spacecraft, cutting transmission sizes by over 60%. This week, Satlyt's software launches on a SpaceX rocket aboard a TakeMe2Space satellite, serving NASA, Stellerian, and TakeMe2Space. The round was led by Non Sibi Ventures.
