Sanders Bill Would Jail AI Superintelligence Developers

Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Greg Casar have introduced the Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act, which would prohibit anyone from developing artificial superintelligence. The bill describes the technology as capable of causing the destruction or disempowerment of humanity, including overthrowing the government. Under the proposed legislation, AI leaders who violate the ban could face up to 20 years in prison.
