Rivian Plans Third-Party AI Agents in Vehicles

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe announced at TechCrunch Disrupt that the company plans to integrate third-party AI agents from companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Meta into its vehicles. Rivian already runs its own in-house agentic framework that routes voice requests to local or cloud-based models depending on complexity. Scaringe said significant behind-the-scenes coordination with AI labs is required, and safety-critical vehicle controls will remain off-limits to agents.
