Recursive launches AI-built laptop coding model Flint
Recursive, an AI startup backed by GV, Nvidia, and AMD Ventures at a $4.65 billion valuation, has released Flint, a free coding model built largely by its automated research system called the Eureka Machine. A small team built Flint in under four months with AI assistance covering pretraining, post-training, and inference. The model runs on a laptop using just 2.5 billion of its 40 billion parameters at a time, generated 131 tokens per second on a MacBook Pro, and outperformed rival models under 50 billion parameters on the SWE-Bench Verified bug-fixing benchmark. It is free to download on Hugging Face.
