Radical Numerics Raises $50M for Biological AI
Radical Numerics launched today with $50 million in funding to develop what it calls general biological intelligence. Founded by the team behind Evo, the first AI model to read and write DNA at scale, the company is building multimodal models that learn across DNA, RNA, and proteins simultaneously, targeting cancer diagnostics, drug discovery, and biosecurity. The company previewed Omnii, its next-generation genomic language model, which shows early promise detecting Alzheimer's-linked genetic variants and AI-engineered pathogens. CEO Eric Nguyen acknowledged the dual-edged nature of the technology, noting the same models that could cure disease may also lower barriers to harmful biological design. Emergence Capital led the seed round.
