Positron IDE Now Runs on Amazon SageMaker AI
Posit's Positron IDE now integrates with Amazon SageMaker AI, letting data scientists access governed AWS data, run R and Python analysis, and deploy models from a single browser-based environment. The setup uses a Space execution role for credential-free access to Athena, S3, and Glue Data Catalog, while Posit Assistant can leverage Amazon Bedrock for AI coding help within the user's own AWS account. Administrators build a Positron container image from Posit's published definition, push it to Amazon ECR, and register it with SageMaker Studio. Data scientists then select Positron when creating a Space, enabling workflows that span data discovery, model training with XGBoost, Shiny app deployment, and Quarto reporting in one unified environment.
