Perplexity Launches SPACE Sandbox for Secure AI Agents

Perplexity AI has introduced SPACE, a secure sandbox platform powering its Computer AI agent service. Built on AWS Firecracker microVMs, SPACE enables sessions to be paused, resumed, or branched across multiple sandboxes, with live memory snapshots saved every minute and data retained for up to a week. The platform keeps passwords and encryption keys entirely under user control, never storing them within the sandbox. In early testing on Nvidia Vera architecture, workflows ran 1.5 times faster than current production systems. Over the past week, SPACE supported over 1.25 million sandbox creations and 11.9 million reconnects.
