Perplexity AI Launches On-Device Agent for Nvidia Desktops

Perplexity AI has introduced Portable Computer, an on-device AI agent designed to run on Nvidia's DGX Spark desktop, which features Blackwell architecture, a 20-core CPU, and 128GB of memory. The tool is an offline version of the cloud-based Perplexity Computer and can handle multi-step tasks like coding and data science using the Qwen 3.8 27B model. Portable Computer includes privacy safeguards such as a sandbox environment, unauthorized network connection blocking, and user permission requirements before sharing data externally. An upcoming update will expand support to Windows machines with Nvidia RTX graphics cards and add compatibility with Nvidia's Nemotron 3.5 Lightning model.
