OpenAI Launches GPT-5.6 Family, Limited Access Now

OpenAI has unveiled GPT-5.6, a three-model AI family featuring Sol for complex tasks like coding and security research, Terra for high-volume business use, and Luna for fast everyday work. Sol and Terra set new benchmark records, while Luna offers speed and low cost at near GPT-5.5 performance. Access is currently restricted to roughly 20 organizations following coordination with the U.S. government, in response to a Trump executive order issued June 2, 2026. A broader public release is expected within the coming weeks.
