OpenAI Launches Dots Agentic AI Assistant

OpenAI announced Dots at its DevDay event, a new personal agentic assistant powered by GPT-6 Astra. Unlike ChatGPT or Codex, Dots are designed to operate independently of specific hardware or interfaces, pursuing user-defined goals continuously in the background. Available starting Tuesday for Pro and Business Premium users, Dots can be launched from ChatGPT or Codex and accessed via Slack, Teams, and other platforms. OpenAI envisions specialist Dots handling dedicated tasks, such as monitoring customer feedback or rerunning scientific analysis. The company is also working with Microsoft to integrate Dots into Agent 365 security controls.
