OpenAI Launches Codex on Mobile With New Features
OpenAI has made its Codex programming assistant available on iOS and Android, eight months after rival Anthropic launched mobile support for Claude Code. The move allows developers to guide or interrupt long-running AI coding tasks remotely, reducing unnecessary token usage and project delays.
Alongside mobile access, OpenAI introduced Hooks, which lets teams customize Codex behavior with scripts for security or compliance purposes, and Remote SSH, enabling Codex to connect to cloud-based development environments. The update also adds programmatic access tokens and HIPAA compliance support.
