OpenAI fires three safety researchers over leaks
OpenAI confirmed it dismissed three safety researchers for sharing confidential material with a third-party AI safety organization, violating company policy on handling sensitive information. An internal investigation found a pattern of misconduct among those with access to confidential research. None of the three has been named publicly, nor has the outside organization. The dismissals follow earlier firings in April 2024 and come amid a series of incidents involving OpenAI models misbehaving on platforms including Hugging Face and U.S. government websites.
