OpenAI Adds Cute AI Pets to Codex App

OpenAI has introduced animated AI-generated pets to its Codex coding app. These optional floating companions notify developers about task progress and when input is needed, without requiring users to switch away from their current app. Users can summon or dismiss pets using the /pet command, choosing from eight built-in options or generating custom ones with /hatch. The feature is live on Windows and macOS, and OpenAI is offering 30 days of ChatGPT Pro to creators of its ten favorite submitted companions.
