OpenAI Acquires AI Camera Startup for $300M

OpenAI has reportedly acquired Glass Imaging, a smartphone camera software startup, for more than $300 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. Neither company has publicly confirmed the deal. The acquisition fits OpenAI's expanding push into consumer hardware, following its $6.5 billion purchase of Jony Ive's io Products in 2025. Glass Imaging makes GlassAI, a neural image processor that improves camera output in a single pass, and its software already ships in Honor smartphones. Founders Ziv Attar and Tom Bishop previously worked on Apple's computational photography team.
