Nvidia Sells Shovels, Alphabet Digs the Mine
Nvidia closed fiscal 2026 with $68.13 billion in Q4 revenue, up 73.2% year-over-year, driven by its Blackwell GPU lineup and explosive networking growth of 263%. Alphabet posted $109.90 billion in Q1 revenue with a $460 billion Cloud backlog, fueled by Google Cloud growing 63% and Gemini processing 16 billion tokens per minute.
Both companies dominate AI from opposite ends: Nvidia supplies the infrastructure, Alphabet consumes and monetizes it. Alphabet's 30x trailing P/E and diversified revenue streams make it the steadier bet, while Nvidia offers purer AI exposure but carries concentration risks around TSMC supply, product cycles, and China policy uncertainty.
