Nadella Calls for AI Emergency Brake Controls
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella published a post on X calling for a reassessment of AI's trust architecture. He argued that AI systems should not be treated as black boxes, and proposed separating models from their orchestration layers, externalizing safeguards, logging all model actions with tamper-proof records, and ensuring authorized users can pause or shut down a model at any time. Nadella said systems should assume a model is compromised from the start. His comments follow similar remarks by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and growing reports of AI companies losing control of their models.
Nadella says assume a model is compromised from the start, and let an authorized person stop it mid-task.
