Most Americans View AI Favorably, Poll Finds
A new HarrisX poll of 2,011 registered voters found 56% hold a favorable view of artificial intelligence, with 72% believing AI can reduce repetitive tasks and 71% calling it the start of a new industrial revolution. The survey was commissioned by Build American AI, an advocacy group backed by tech industry figures including OpenAI's Greg Brockman and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale. The findings push back against perceptions of widespread public opposition to AI, even as controversies mount over data center construction, energy consumption, and job displacement fears. Notable splits emerged on safety, with 53% supporting rapid AI development despite risks, citing competition with China.
