Microsoft Launches $2.5B AI Deployment Business
Microsoft announced a new operating business called Microsoft Frontier Company, backed by $2.5 billion and 6,000 experts, focused on enterprise AI deployments using Microsoft's existing tools. CEO Judson Althoff distanced the venture from the Forward Deployed Engineering label, calling it the largest outcome-driven engineering organization in the industry.
The move mirrors similar efforts from Amazon Web Services, OpenAI, and Anthropic. Microsoft's existing Fortune 500 client base gives it a head start, with early partners including the London Stock Exchange Group, Unilever, Land O'Lakes, and Accenture.
