Meta's New AI Model Rivals GPT-5.5 in Coding

Meta is preparing to release an upgraded version of its Muse Spark AI model, with chief AI officer Alexandr Wang announcing the launch is coming soon. The new model reportedly matches GPT-5.5 on several key benchmarks and offers significantly improved coding and AI agent capabilities. The upgrade comes at a cost, using an order of magnitude more computing power than its predecessor. Meta still trails Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.8 on the SWE-Bench Pro coding benchmark, though Wang suggested a competitive model would arrive pretty soon. The push aligns with reports that Meta is considering launching an AI infrastructure service.
