Meta Plans Cloud Business to Monetize AI Infrastructure
Meta is developing a cloud infrastructure business to sell AI compute power and model access, according to Bloomberg. The move would put Meta in direct competition with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, mirroring a similar strategy recently adopted by SpaceX via xAI.
The initiative, reportedly called Meta Compute, comes as Meta has committed $182.9 billion to AI infrastructure. Unlike rivals, Meta has seen limited demand for its own AI products, making the sale of excess compute capacity a potential way to recoup its massive investment.
