Meta Launches Muse Code to Rival Claude, Codex
Meta has released Muse Code, a terminal-based AI coding agent now in beta, alongside Muse Spark 1.2, a coding-focused model update. CEO Mark Zuckerberg described Muse Code as an agent that handles complete software engineering tasks across large repositories, including planning, writing, and validating code.
The launch puts Meta in direct competition with Anthropic's Claude Code, OpenAI's Codex, and tools like Cursor. It marks Meta's most serious push into agentic coding, a category it largely watched from the sidelines while rivals turned it into flagship products and billion-dollar businesses.
