Meta launches AI smart glasses at $299
Meta has partnered with EssilorLuxottica to release new AI-powered smart glasses starting at $299, about $80 cheaper than the previous Ray-Ban Meta line. The glasses feature open-ear speakers, multi-microphone arrays, cameras, and an eight-hour battery with up to 40 hours of charging on the go. The glasses are powered by Muse Spark, Meta's first multimodal reasoning model from its Superintelligence Labs, enabling real-time translation in 14 languages, hands-free task management, and pedestrian navigation. Three styles are available, including a collaboration with Kylie Jenner. The launch comes amid controversy over Meta's brief, undisclosed testing of facial recognition software on its wearables.
