MasterClass deploys AI agents for personalized tutoring

MasterClass is building a multi-agent AI tutoring system through its MasterClass Executive program, which adapts lessons based on learner engagement, cognitive overload, and motivation. About 10 agents run behind each learner interaction, monitored using W&B Weave for production observability. Chief product officer Mandar Bapaye emphasized that a scientifically and pedagogically grounded framework is essential, not just deploying a chatbot. The first cohort drew 30,000 applications for roughly 500 spots, with the second approaching 50,000. Bapaye cited cost, supply, and quality as the core problems AI addresses in personal tutoring.
