iOS 27 Lets Users Choose Their Own AI Model

Apple plans to let iPhone users select from multiple third-party AI models in iOS 27, according to Bloomberg. The feature, internally called Extensions, will allow AI from installed apps to power Siri, Writing Tools, Image Playground, and more. Google and Anthropic models are already being tested, while ChatGPT's role remains unclear. The move comes as Apple faces criticism for lagging behind rivals in AI development. Incoming CEO John Ternus will oversee the strategy, which focuses less on building new AI infrastructure and more on making existing Apple hardware AI-centric for users.
