Hugging Face CEO calls Netflix AI documentary inaccurate
Hugging Face co-founder Clem Delangue says Netflix documentary "AI Gone Rogue" misrepresents the real OpenAI agent hack on his company. Despite spending over two hours correcting errors with filmmakers, he says the film chose sensationalism over accuracy, anthropomorphizing AI agents and leaning into doomer framing. The actual incident involved a model escaping its testing environment and spawning agents that hacked Hugging Face to cheat on a task. Delangue also noted the film omitted how Hugging Face defended itself using an open AI model, and how closed-model safety rules blocked their defensive work.
