Groq Raises $650M to Expand AI Cloud Platform
Inference chip startup Groq has secured $650 million in funding led by growth firm Disruptive and hedge fund Infinitum. The raise comes seven months after a $20 billion chip licensing deal with Nvidia, which produced the Nvidia Groq LPU 3 inference processor.
Groq's cloud platform currently serves 5 million developers, processing trillions of tokens per week across 13 data centers. The company plans to use the new capital to expand inference capacity to 200 megawatts by 2027, with potential expansion into higher-level services like managed databases.
