Google Pays $10M for Spirit Airlines' Internal Data
Google has won a bankruptcy auction to acquire vast amounts of internal business data from Spirit Airlines for $10 million, outbidding competitors including AI training firm Mercor. The haul includes 100 million company emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams chats, 30 million lines of code, and operational records.
Google confirmed the data will be scrubbed of personally identifiable information before use and stressed it did not acquire passenger or loyalty program records. The purchase reflects a growing market for proprietary business data as AI companies race to find fresh training material beyond freely available online content.
